The course includes development, design and operation of processes and plant for the extraction, conversion and recovery of materials. Among the more familiar are petroleum refining, gas processing, petrochemical and polymer production, fertiliser manufacture, cement and lime production, minerals and metals extraction and refining, paper and board manufacture, sugar refining, food processing, production of industrial and fine chemicals. Metallurgical engineering and extractive metallurgy are specialist fields that deal with the extraction of metals and mineral products from their ores through the application of science and engineering principles. The double degree with Extractive Metallurgy gives Chemical Engineering students a sound knowledge and understanding of chemistry and the principles of metal extraction from ores.
option A:- At least three of the following WACE courses: Mathematics,3C/3D, Mathematics: Specialist 3C/3D, Physics 3A/3B ,and Chemistry 3A/3B. Option B:-Mathematics 3C/3D and Chemistry 3A/3B or Physics 3A/3B. Typically, a minimum ATAR of 75 is required f
In this course the major studies include refining of gas ,petrochemical and polymer production as well as manufacturing of cement and lime. It also includes extraction of metals and production of industrial and fine chemicals.
Applicable Maths and Chemistry. Students wishing to enrol in a double degree program with engineering require Applicable Maths plus at least two of Physics, Calculus or Chemistry. Selection is based on Tertiary Entrance Rank (ATAR). STAT not accepted.Selection is based on Tertiary Entrance Rank (ATAR). STAT not accepted.
You will receive accreditation as a metallurgist by the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM). After graduation you will get a great opportunity to study and work in the heart of Western Australia’s mining industry.
This double degree provides students with the knowledge and skills to become professional chemists in analytical, research and industrial areas. The combination of the two degree programs provides graduates with specialised skills to work within the two disciplines in research and development of new processes and plants.
