Electricity provides the energy for many things, from heating and lighting to transportation, manufacturing and communications.Studying electrical energy systems can open up a wide range of career options.
Mathematics (including Calculus), Physics and Chemistry.
Major studies include development of basic skills related to Physics and electrical power engineering
Electric power engineering (including Basics of Electric circuit theory, Electric machines, Power electronics and Power systems) Mathematics (including Linear algebra, Multivariable analysis and Numerical analysis and statistics) and Automatic control.
The Electrical Power and Industrial Control Technology Program gives graduates a foundation in The Canadian Electrical Code, electrical power equipment, electrical power generation, industrial electronics, PLC programming and the design of power distribution systems.
Graduates work on the design, installation, maintenance, and production of electro-mechanical devices that generate electrical power, including green power. You could design, program, and maintain industrial control systems, working at electrical utilities including independent power producers, consulting engineering firms, electrical contracting ventures, manufacturing operations, or government agencies. You might work in a structured environment doing maintenance or research, or in a fast-paced environment where you solve different technical problems every day, either alone or as part of a team.
