This Graduate Entry Master (GEM) course is designed to provide you with the scientific, technical and administrative skills and knowledge to become an entry-level health information manager.Our teaching staff have strong links with local, national and international health and information professionals, ensuring you will receive hands-on experience and expertise throughout your studies. This advanced education prepares the graduate for responsibilities in areas such as health care data resources administration, health care data security oversight, strategic and operational information resource planning, clinical data analysis, clinical classification systems, medical vocabularies, enterprise-wide master patient index systems, clinical decision support systems, information systems development and implementation of systems such as electronic health records.
Major studies in science
In this course the major studies include focus on emerging frameworks for creating integrated health care information, data management and decision support systems. It is specifically designed to prepare professionals to thrive in a technology-supported and information-driven health care environment .As well study related to health care data security oversight, strategic and operational information resource planning, clinical data analysis, clinical classification systems is also studied
A Bachelor degree or equivalent and proof of formal medical terminology training.
This course will be accredited by the Health Information Management Association of Australia (HIMAA) .Graduates of this degree will be eligible for full membership with HIMAA.
The health information manager is the bridge between the clinical, management and systems aspects of health. It’s a fulfilling profession responsible for the collection, storage, analysis and distribution of health care information.
