This course will help for student to think like a physician. Student will learn to focus on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of dysfunction of the spine and extremities, and the effects of this dysfunction on the nervous system, musculoskeletal system and general health. Student will graduate with the practical skills to recognize signs and symptoms of diseases, diagnose problems and select appropriate therapeutic techniques following final year working in our state-of-the-art chiropractic and rehabilitation clinic. Murdoch university also offer a unit in Professional Practice Management to help for developing life-long basic business skills, including how to run a budget, manage inventory and finance. Our experienced and dynamic lecturing team look forward to welcoming student into the only fully accredited chiropractic course in Western Australia.
Major knowledge of bones and biology.
In this course major studies focuses on diagnosis, treatment and prevention of dysfunction of the spine and extremities, and the effects of this dysfunction on the nervous system, musculoskeletal system and general health and practical skills to recognize signs and symptoms of diseases, diagnose problems and selection of appropriate therapeutic techniques are involved.
Students may need to complete one prerequisite unit depending on their background in Chiropractic Science and their final scaled score in TEE Chemistry within the past three years. Biology 3A/3B with a final scaled score of 60 percent or more OR PEC140 - Introduction to Biology -- 3 pts .Murdoch: S1-internal, S1-external, S2-internal, S2-external. Students who have completed previous biology not stated above should consult the Study Excel for clarification of their enrolment requirements.
After graduating students will be eligible for registration in all states and territories of Australian and New Zealand.
Chiropractic Science is a primary healthcare profession concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of dysfunction of the neuro-musculo-skeletal system and general health. Murdoch University’s degree in Chiropractic Science will give ability to recognize signs and symptoms of such diseases with their presenting pathology, patho-mechanical states, and related pain syndromes, differentially diagnose the problem and select appropriate therapeutic regimes or refer patients. Extensive clinic experience under direct supervision is required throughout this program to expose the student to the unique presentation and conditions of various patients. Demand for Chiropractors is increasing in Australia and throughout the world, as public awareness and acceptance of the chiropractic treatment grows. Demand is also likely to be affected by an increase in the number of elderly people in the population, as this group is more likely to experience the types of disorders treatable by Chiropractic. Job opportunities after pursuing this degree are: Chiropractor whereas Chiropractors, also known as Chiropractic Physicians, diagnose and treat patients whose health problems are associated with the body's muscular, nervous, and skeletal systems, especially the spine.
