This course is designed for students who have completed 2 years full-time studies in a recognized civil law degree. The rapid growth of international law, trade, development and migration, means that legal disputes now often cross country borders and jurisdictions. This course will complement student’s civil law learning and give a unique perspective of law as it is practiced internationally which gives a foundation in the main areas of Common Law as practiced in Australia and gives an edge over peers who are qualified in just one system of law. Students will learn about Australian Common Law and its application to Contracts, Property, Equities and Trusts, and Tortious Liability.
Basic knowledge of civil law
Major studies focuses on Australian Common Law and its application to Contracts, Property, Equities and Trusts, and Tortious Liability.
Students will need to have successfully completed at least two years of full-time studies in a civil law course overseas.
As a Murdoch Common Law graduate students will be able to seek a career in international law, public service and diplomacy or business and trade.
