This course will help student to learn about the design, commissioning and operation of metal plants, geological processes and plate tectonics, as well as the origin and mineralogical characteristics of principle ore types. This course engages student in practical training in a range of mining techniques such as resource and reserve estimation, using real equipment in our simulated pilot plant and mining laboratories. Students will also get opportunity to visit mine-sites and metallurgical plants, and access a range of interstate or overseas vacation employment and university-industry scholarships . As a final year student (4th year) student, Students will be able to participate in industry funded research projects and a world-class national Process Design course sponsored by the Minerals Council of Australia. The skills and knowledge gained by student open doors to a multitude of opportunities in the mining industry and allied industries including oil and gas, chemical engineering, mineral processing and processing consulting here around the world.
