Finance is all about managing money, whether you are advising a large corporation or helping build an individual's personal finances. By developing skill and expertise in corporate financial management student not only have the opportunity to enhance own personal financial management skill, but will also be making a wise career move by specializing in one of the largest and most diverse industries on the planet. Students will gain an appreciation and understanding of the many areas involved in corporate finance. These areas include: capital investment decisions, portfolio management, working capital management, capital markets, options, futures, forward exchange contracts and other financial instruments. An introduction to international finance is also studied in this course. Murdoch university will prepare students for exciting careers working with the financial markets in stock broking, portfolio management, trading, insurance or banking. Students may also choose to channel skills into the public sector or work for the government in the vast and complex world of fiscal policy making.

Completion of a Bachelor Degree (AQF Level 7) or equivalent in the same discipline or cognate area with a Distinction average in units relating to the planned Honors study and a Distinction average overall. Subject to availability of a suitable supervisor and approval by the Dean of School.

Depending on which skill combinations or specializations student have, Murdoch degree may lead student towards work and study opportunities in a number of areas. The following are some professions to consider, including extra majors and minors that will improve your prospects of achieving them. Financial Analyst:- Financial Analysts, also called securities analysts and investment analysts, work for banks, insurance companies, mutual and pension funds, securities firms, and other businesses, helping these companies or their clients make investment decisions. Financial Analysts read company financial statements and analyse commodity prices, sales, costs, expenses, and tax rates in order to determine a companys value and to project its future earnings. They often meet with company officials to gain a better insight into the firms prospects and to determine its managerial effectiveness. Financial Manager:- Financial Managers direct bank branches and departments, resolve customers problems, ensure that standards of service are maintained, and administer the institutions operations and investments. Credit Manager:-Credit Managers oversee the firms issuance of credit, establishing credit-rating criteria, determining credit ceilings, and monitoring the collections of past-due accounts. Managers specialising in international finance develop financial and accounting systems for the banking transactions of multinational organisations.
