This course will give students the direct access to this acknowledged expertise as you examine global security and the phenomenon of terrorism in the 21st Century. Students will learn about the nature of security and terrorism from military, legal, political, economic, psychological and sociological perspectives. Students will also learn about the protection of individuals, their values, norms, rules, institutions and property from military and non-military sources, as well as the causes and the effects of terrorism and counter-terrorism measures at home and abroad. This course will have a greater understanding of global security issues and a more integrated and peaceful approach to tackle.

Depending on skill combinations or specializations student have, Murdoch degree may lead student towards work and study opportunities in a number of areas. The following are some professions to consider, including majors that will improve prospects of achieving them. Security Analyst:- In today's inter-connected and globalised world, many public and private organizations require security analysts who can collect information from a variety of sources and can then provide a well-organised and articulated analysis based on that information. Security Specialist:- Security Specialists, particularly those with a knowledge of cyber-security, could help to manage the security of an organisation's system infrastructure, investigate and resolve incidents, monitor for intrusions, provide virus protection defences, enforce bandwidth policy, monitor data transactions in and out of a network environment and secure all servers from unauthorised use. Correctional Treatment Specialist:- In jails and prisons, Correctional Treatment Specialists evaluate the progress of inmates. They also work with inmates, probation officers, and other agencies to develop parole and release plans. A degree in Security, Terrorism and Counterterrorism Studies would make students eligible for a career in law enforcement, border management and intelligence, both at the State and Federal levels.
