The Bachelor of Engineering (Marine and Offshore Systems) is designed to meet the engineering needs of the marine and offshore industries by providing professional engineers with the specialized knowledge required by these industries .The course is currently the only undergraduate program in Australia servicing the above requirements, as it integrates relevant sections of the mechanical , electrical, systems, and civil engineering disciplines, while maintaining a maritime/offshore emphasis. The course prepares students for employment in the marine/offshore engineering industries, including those involved in the design, development and maintenance of marine machinery, shipbuilding, marine classification societies and statutory authorities, power generation, offshore oil and gas production, and naval engineering .The uniquely maritime focus of AMC together with the wide variety of specialized facilities, provide the graduates with a strong "hands on" approach to complement their theoretical studies, emphasizing the engineering systems associated with the marine and offshore industries.
Basic knowledge of marine and offshore engineering.
The major studies focus on develoment of knowledge related to mechanical , electrical, systems, and civil engineering disciplines, while maintaining a maritime/offshore emphasis are included as major concept of study.
The satisfactory completion of Year 12 (TCE, VCE, HSC or equivalent). Candidates must have completed mid to upper level Mathematics and a Science subject (Physics or Chemistry recommended). Students who do not have all pre-requisites may complete a bridging couse. Alternate entry options are also available.
Articulation to or from the course the graduates may apply for entry to the MPhil or PhD degree. Candidates who have completed an Advanced Diploma/Diploma in engineering or other relevant tertiary studies may be granted advanced standing into the course. The graduates of the programme may be eligible for membership of: Engineers Australia as Graduate Professional Engineer,Royal Institution of Naval Architects,The Institute of Marine Engineering Science and Technology.
The course prepares students for shore-based employment in marine and marine-related industries, thermal power plants, hotels and offshore industries as process, operation, maintenance, research and design engineers and engineer managers.
