This course was designed in partnership with the Neurological Council of WA Inc. (NCWA) with the needs of registered nurses working in the community or related health care setting in mind. Students can boost nursing career in neuroscience and neurological nursing. If student is a registered nurse working in a community health environment, this unique course will provide students with a postgraduate qualification in a specialized area of nursing. Students will explore neuroscience, anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, etiology and the cause of specific neurological conditions. Students will also acquire knowledge of all aspects of community neurological nursing along with the psychological, mental and socio-economical impacts of neurological conditions in long term supportive care.

Major studies focuses on neuroscience, anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, etiology and the cause of specific neurological conditions and all aspects of community neurological nursing along with the psychological, mental and socio-economic impacts of neurological conditions in long term supportive care is studied as major part.
This course is not available to international students studying in Australia on a student visa, it is available to international students on other visas if visa conditions allow. Recognized four year Primary or Early Childhood Teaching Qualification. Students will need to consider the teaching regulations for their jurisdiction.
After completing this course students will be eligible for professional accreditation with the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC).
Neurological nurses provide immediate, post-operative care for patients following neurosurgery, and can also be involved in the nursing care of acute moderate and severe head trauma, acute intracerebral hemorrhages as well as a range of other chronic neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis, motor neuron disease and Parkinson's disease. Neurology nurses also provide specialist care for unconscious, quadriplegic and paraplegic patients, as well as confused and restless patients, and patients at high risk of falls. Career options also includes specialty neuroscience nursing.
