This professional doctorate program is designed for research-orientated individuals working in educational roles who wish to make a contribution to knowledge in the context of professional practice. The professional doctorate is focused on the application of advanced knowledge to questions of professional practice. Participants will develop substantial content knowledge in cognate areas related to the kinds of career positions and pathways that they might pursue, along with substantial knowledge of research principles and methods applicable to the field of learning. Participants will demonstrate intellectual discipline to think critically, evaluate existing knowledge and ideas, undertake systematic investigation, and reflect on theory and practice to contribute to professional knowledge and practice. There is only one intake of students per year, and this occurs in early February. This course is also available to be undertaken at the University of Western Australia Singapore Campus.

In this course the major studies include preparation of thesis or project through original research to make a valuable contribution to the field.
International students must have a bachelor's degree, or equivalent, in a relevant discipline (where required), completed to a sufficiently high standard.
