In this course students will combine coursework and applied research, leading to a dissertation. Students can choose from a range of areas of applied research, such as Educational Policy, Educational Leadership, Professional Development, Tertiary and Adult Education, Curriculum Studies in a range of learning areas, Educational Psychology, E-Learning, and Educational Assessment and Evaluation. In this course students will be assigned to a supervisor and in turn supervisor helps to develop a plan of study to suit area of specialization. Students will meet on-campus with supervisor at appropriate times to discuss progress and map objectives.

In this course major studies include research in a range of areas of applied research, such as Educational Policy, Educational Leadership, Professional Development, Tertiary and Adult Education, Curriculum Studies in a range of learning areas, Educational Psychology, E-Learning, and Educational Assessment and Evaluation.
To be eligible to this course, Student should possess advanced academic study, research preparation and professional experience are required for admission to the course. The entry requirements are the equivalent of a Bachelor of Education (or other relevant degree) with honors from a recognized university and at least two years of relevant professional experience.Students who have a Master of Education degree by coursework or research will be considered on a case-by-case basis for credit. Students with a Master of Education by coursework degree may be asked to complete a small project as part of the first year of the Education Doctorate.
Depending on the area of specialization, Student may be eligible for membership of various professional organizations upon graduation.
This program provides an avenue to pursue advanced studies in a format appropriate for the profession. It is a preparation for those in leadership and management positions in educational institutions and systems and other organizations that operate educational programs. It is also preparation for those working in research, policy-making, new information technologies and areas yet to emerge where advanced intellectual and applied knowledge and skills are required.
