This course provides environmental professionals with an introductory understanding of the policies, procedures and techniques of environmental management through practically-oriented study. Students further develop their knowledge and understanding of selected principles and techniques employed in environmental management.

To be eligible to this course the students must have recognized bachelor's degree or higher, in Environmental Science or Environmental Management, or equivalent training. If the first degree is not related to this area of study then at least one year of relevant work/life experience is required.
Postgraduate Certificate in Environmental Assessment and Management course is approved by the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA), subject to the completion of specified modules. Completion of either of these qualifications can provide exemption from the training requirement for Associate membership of the IEMA. In order to qualify for recognition, you will be required to study the elective modules 'Ethics for environment and development' and 'International environmental law'.
This course will be relevant to consultants wishing to practice in this field, and to people employed by private and public organizations that are active in environmental areas.
