The Master of International Affairs (MIA) is a genuinely multi-disciplinary coursework degree that explores the political, economic, strategic, cultural and legal forces that shape our region and world. It equips students with the knowledge and skills for careers in a wide variety of sectors including government and foreign affairs, international organizations, national and international NGOs, and the media. In this course students will examine contemporary issues in global trade and resource conflicts, global governance and the role of international institutions, international security and arms control, international law, global and regional perspectives on human rights, and the international politics of the Asian region. The MIA offers students: A detailed knowledge of key concepts and issues involved in the study of international relations, through intensive study in specialist units, High-level analytical skills to evaluate contemporary challenges in international affairs, developed through the practical investigation of pressing global issues and problems.

Major studies include development of Professional skills in leadership, management and communication, deep understanding of contemporary political, social and cultural trends in the East Asia region and its global context. Gaining of in depth knowledge of core subjects on international relations theories, international security and strategy, international law, international political economy, international history, and global governance and international institutions.
Admission to the Masters degrees is available to students who have a Bachelor degree in any area. A student's advanced standing is assessed at the time of application, taking into account level of higher study and/or professional experience.
The students after completing this course from Murdoch university gets accreditation from The US-accredited Master of Arts in International Relations and Diplomacy at AGS provides students with the knowledge, skills, and contacts to pursue a career in a large range of branches of international affairs, including intergovernmental organizations, NGOs, government, diplomacy, international business, journalism, and academia.
Students graduating with a Master of International Affairs (MIA) degree pursue varied careers. Students may get opportunity to work with the Turkish Government, the Congressional Research Service, U.S. Department of State, the United Nations, the World Bank, McKinsey and Company, Deutsche Bank, ABC, Proctor and Gamble, The Conservation Fund, Open Society Institute, Population Services International, Japan Society, and Community Counseling Service and Horn Relief in Africa, in addition to many other organizations.
