Students will learn how to teach adults about area of specialization in a range of settings.This course is an extension of our Graduate Certificate in Tertiary and Adult Education as it runs over five units instead of two. While this course is equivalent to one year of full-time study, the Certificate course is one year part-time - but can count for credit towards this course if student decide to progress further.
Good teaching skills.
Major studies focuses on development of teaching skills related to current education theory and adult/tertiary student learning research from the perspective of teaching experiences. The emphasis is on improving student learning rather than on instructional methods .
Recognized bachelor's degree or higher, or equivalent training, and will need to have acquired some experience of teaching adults before enrolling in the unit EDU470 Professional and Action Learning Project (see unit description for details). Applicants who do not have any experience teaching at the time of enrolment should consult with the Study Excel.
Graduates are recognised by the Western Australian College of Teaching (WACOT) as well as the respective State, Catholic and Independent school departments, organisations and associations.
After completing this course, students might choose to pursue a role as a lecturer, audit educator, facilitator, professional development facilitator, instructor or professional trainer.
