The Graduate Certificate in Animal Science offers students the advanced technical training in a focused area of animal science: genetics, nutrition or reproduction, biotechnology and animal production. Undertaking electives from a range of units of study, Students will also be equipped with advanced skills applied in a variety of industres including poultry, wildlife, pig, aquaculture, dairy, companion and pedigree animals, sheep and beef. The course may include a supervised research project.

A successful applicant for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Animal Science will hold a bachelor’s degree or higher award from the University of Sydney, or equivalent qualification, in veterinary science, animal science or agriculture. In exceptional circumstances the dean may admit applicants without these qualifications who, in the opinion of the faculty, have qualifications and evidence of experience and achievement sufficient to successfully undertake the award.It is assumed that appllication.
Animal studies is a diverse field involving caring for and working with recreational animals and farm animals, and the study of Australia's wildlife. The general program allows students to specialise in one of these areas. Students develop core disciplinary knowledge and skills in the animal sciences, and the ability to integrate and apply these in professional practice.
