The Bachelor of Visual Communication equips the students with the necessary technical, conceptual and research skills to produce innovative and effective visual communications for an identified audience. This course also provides the students with the skills that employers want, such as critical thinking, analysis, problem solving, research, communication (visual and verbal), creativity and versatility. General knowledge about Visual Communication.
The major studies inculcated in this course is gaining of necessary technical, conceptual and research skills to produce innovative and effective visual communications for an identified audience. The course also provides the students with the skills that employers want, such as critical thinking, analysis, problem solving, research, communication (visual and verbal),, creativity and versatility.
The applicants are normally expected to have satisfied the University's admission requirements, with the addition of a practically orientated pre-tertiary Visual Arts or Design subject or TAFE certificate. Applicants who do not meet these requirements should submit a folio consisting of no more than ten photographs, drawings, paintings or electronic images of work and a statement outlining their interest in the course including any relevant experience or qualifications. They may instead be offered admission to the Associate Degree in Arts, and if they successfully complete a probationary period can then transfer to the BVC. Where applicants have little or no evidence of a previous interest in or study of visual art or design they will be required to undertake a two week preparatory summer school unit which will count towards their first semester of study.Course counseling will be offered to all successful applicants prior to the start of semester, to discuss choice of studio and potential careers. Part-time study is not available to international students.
Articulation to or from the course will be possible for students to transfer from the BVC into the BFA degree upon completion of all units at level 100. Equally, students who have successfully undertaken the Level 1 units in Graphic Design and Electronic Media may transfer from the BFA into the BVC upon completion of all units at Level 1.Graduates from the Bachelor of Visual Communication, who have successfully completed the prerequisite requirements for further study, will be eligible to apply the Master of Visual Communication (coursework).Graduates who have completed a BVC with sufficient merit will also be eligible to apply for entry to the Bachelor of Visual Communications with Honours degree.
