The Diploma in Public Policy provides students with the opportunity to undertake units with a public policy focus. Where feasible, students may choose to undertake the Diploma concurrently with their Bachelor degree or as a stand alone qualification.
General knowledge about Public Policy.
The major theme areas included in this course are Sustainability Governance,Politics and International Governance, The course intents to emphasize the overall development of skills and knowledge of the students in the Public Policy which will enhance their future.
No subject pre requisites apply, however applicants are expected to meet normal university entry requirements such as TQA TCE with SA in at least four TQA level 3 accredited courses, Year 11/12 ATAR score or International Baccalaureate Diploma, ACE, concessional entry OR completion TAFE/VET qualifications: Certificate III or IV or equivalent, Diploma, Advanced Diploma, TAFE articulation program OR prior university study, either completed or partially completed OR successful completion of all units in a university enabling program OR results from a relevant aptitude test (ACER,STAT), provision of a supporting statement outlining evidence of capacity to succeed. Prior completion or are completing senior secondary schooling (Year 12/13) in 2012, can apply for entry on the senior secondary school qualifications.
Articulation to or from the course the students who graduate with the Diploma of Public Policy and wish to enter the Bachelor of Arts will be granted credit to the value of 50% (4 x 12.5%) towards the BA, comprising 25% student electives at introductory and 25% student electives at intermediate level, if the Diploma has not been taken concurrently with that degree. Full credit is granted towards the BA degree for units studied in an incomplete Diploma of Public Policy, if the Diploma has not been taken concurrently with that degree. Credit toward other Bachelor degrees will be considered on a case by case basis in accordance with the University rule. Students who transfer to the BA from the Diploma and receive full credit cannot graduate with the Diploma of Public Policy. Students who are granted credit from the completed Diploma of Public Policy towards the BA cannot complete a major/minor in Political Science or Public Policy.Students who are pursuing concurrent study in both the Diploma and either a bachelor or postgraduate degree, could receive credit to the maximum value of 25% (2x12.5%) toward the main degree,subject to successfully passing units in the Diploma; unless otherwise stated by the coordinator of the relevant degree (undergraduate or postgraduate).
Graduate may gain employment in fields such as politics (local, state and federal), government agencies,business.
