Human Resource Management explores how the proper management of employees contributes towards organizational effectiveness. This major provides students with a thorough theoretical and practical grounding in the management of people and employment in Australia and overseas. Students will also study topics such as organizational behavior, employment relations systems and processes, human resource planning, recruitment and selection, performance management, training and development, occupational health and safety, work organization, negotiation and conflict resolution, all of which will give valuable skills as an employee in any given industry. This major is taught through a combination of lectures, tutorials, workshops, and other in-class activities. After completing this degree from university of western Australia, Students can pursue further studies at honors level or undertake a specialist master’s degree such as the Master of Human Resources and Employment Relations. They can also choose to complete a generalist master’s degree such as the Master of Commerce or Master of Business Administration.
The Human Resource Management major prepares students for a career in human resources in both the public sector and private organizations. It also complements other studies and careers in management. This course leads student to become a: Human Resource Professional, Management Consultant, Policy and Planning Manager, Recruitment Consultant, Training and Development Professional, Workplace Relations Adviser.
