The units offered within this course are as follows:- human functional anatomy, reproduction, genetics, variation, and evolution, microscopic structures of cells and tissues, structure and function of the nervous system, ecology, behavior and biosocial interactions. Students will explore humanity from the molecular to the species levels. This will provide with a solid foundation for understanding body and its response to the world around you from both biological and social perspectives. Studies in Anatomy and Human Biology would complement a major in any other field, including but not limited to the biological, social science or humanities areas with majors such as Anthropology and Sociology, Archaeology, Biomedical Sciences or Zoology. To complement lectures from renowned experts in their various fields, Students will have the chance to discuss, apply and expand on the theory of units in weekly practical laboratory classes and structured tutorials. The School of Anatomy, Physiology and Human Biology is well equipped for the latest methods of cell and molecular biology teaching and research. It has cutting-edge computer-assisted facilities, a specialist facility for the dissection of human material, and excellent laboratory facilities for histology, tissue culture and radioisotope work.
