Genetics is Trans disciplinary - all biological sciences, including botany, zoology, biochemistry, pathology, molecular biology, microbiology and medicine, cover at least some aspects of genetics. Studies in genetics will provide graduates with a broad overview of the universal principles, potentials and problems associated with DNA-based life, and will provide the skills necessary to become a geneticist. This major will deliver a broad overview of the universal principles, potentials and problems associated with DNA-based life, and provide students with the essential skills of a geneticist. To complement lectures from renowned experts in their various fields, Students will have the chance to discuss, apply and expand on the theory of unit in weekly practical laboratory classes and structured tutorials. Students will have opportunities to interact with researchers who are active in all fields of genetics.
Good knowledge of biology.
Major studies focus on universal principles, potentials and problems associated with DNA-based life, and essential skills related to geneticist.
Students with Genetics major can pursue further studies at honors level, Graduate Diploma in Science, Master of Science or PhD.Other further study options include Graduate Diploma in/Master of Infectious Diseases, Master of Forensic Science, and the Master of Science (Biotechnology), Master of Science Communication or the Master of Science Communication and Education.
Many genetics graduates find careers in laboratory and field-based research.
