Major Studies
The major studies in this faculty are based upon the combination of professional studies in computing with professional studies in business in areas such as accounting, information systems and human resource management. The course aims to provide a broad view about the combined studies to the students for the development of knowledge and skills.
Eligibility Criteria
While no prerequisites apply for the BBus component of the degree, students who have not successfully completed (TCEMAP 5C) Mathematics Applied, or an equivalent unit, or, a higher level mathematics unit, as approved by the School of Economics and Finance, are required to complete either(KMA003) Mathematics Foundation Unit,(UPP090) Bridging Maths or (BEA109) Introduction to Quantitative Methods before enrolling in (BEA140) Quantitative Methods. International students who are required to undertake a mathematics bridging program may only take BEA109.Students who have completed a diploma or advanced diploma in a business related discipline at an Australian institute of TAFE may receive credit towards the Business component of the degree.
Professional Accreditation
The Faculty of Business also offers direct credit for its awards. For example, a BBus student wishing to transfer to the BEc with credit and vice versa receives direct credit. BBus students wishing to transfer to a combined degree may also receive direct credit. Applicants wishing to obtain credit for study already undertaken within another faculty, or an Australian or overseas tertiary institution should consult the Admission Guide for information on procedure.Depending on the course of study and the majors chosen, students may not be able to use all of the credit that has been granted, for example, credit for unspecified electives. The status of individual units is usually determined at the time of offer. Students who wish to be considered for credit/advanced standing should complete and sign an application and submit it to the Faculty Office.
Career Prospectus
Graduates of the combined degree could expect to find employment in fields such as accounting, human resource management, programming, software construction, systems administration, multimedia and internet technologies.
