The Graduate Diploma in Forensic Science is a multidisciplinary course that acquaints students with current developments in basic forensic sciences, and particularly those related to criminal investigation. This course provides hands-on experience in the analysis of material associated with a crime scene. Students will develop skills in a range of areas, including the use of scanning electron microscopy, chemical analytical techniques including inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry, and learn how to employ DNA sequencing using specific genomic markers. Students also have the opportunity to participate in field experiments. From these experiences, students learn aspects of pathology .As part of the Expert Testimony unit, Students are required to attend workshops in the areas of criminal justice and expert evidence. This independent research project is specifically designed to enable students to understand both the criminal justice system and the process of presenting evidence as an expert witness within a courtroom.

International students must have a bachelor's degree, or equivalent, in a relevant discipline (where required), completed to a sufficiently high standard.
On completion of this degree from University Of Western Australia ,Students get accreditation by the Forensic Science Society.
