The general aims and objectives of the Bachelor of Economics are to produce well educated and adaptable graduates with appropriate knowledge and professional skills to meet the existing needs and demands of employment in industry.The students can undertake studies in the following areas such as Australian Economy and the Asia Pacific, Economic Analysis, Economic Policy, Finance.A major from another field of study like Accounting, Computing or Government.
General knowledge about Economics.
The major studies inculcated in this course are understanding of the issues and factors, both national and international , that determine how macro and micro economic systems are organized and how decisions are made by individuals, business, firms and governments.
In addition to meeting the University's basic admission requirements, applicants must have passed Mathematics Applied (TQA 3) or an equivalent unit, or, a higher level Mathematics subject as accepted by the School of Economics and Finance and/or by the Faculty of Business.
After pursuing this degree from University Of Tasmania, students can become eligible to apply for membership of the Economics Society of Australia.Students enrolled for the BEc may combine degree with Law, Arts, Business, Computing, Science, Honours degree in Economics subject to the rules of School of Economics and Finance.
The Economics graduates play a vital role in modern society and are employed in areas such as Banking Industry, Insurance, Commonwealth Government, Market Forecasting, Economic Research,State Government, Stockbroking, Statistics Fund management, Consulting firms.
