The Faculty of Agriculture and Environment has a long and proud history in research and development in agricultural and related sciences benefitting local and international enterprises and industries. Its research addresses and creates solutions for the most challenging current issues affecting agriculture and management of natural resources, such as food security, climate change, carbon, water and the environment.The Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) may be undertaken within one of the Faculty's Departments: Agricultural and Resource Economics; Environmental Sciences; Plant and Food Sciences. These departments are supported by the Faculty's research centres and laboratories: the Plant Breeding Institute at Cobbitty and Narrabri, the Precision Agriculture Laboratory, and the Sydney University Nitrogen Fixation Centre. The Faculty has links with the Grains Research and Development Corporation, CSIRO, NSW Department of Industries and other important stakeholders in agriculture and strong international links with research programs in Vietnam, India, Mexico, China, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Thailand and parts of Europe and the USA.
