This course provides advanced training in the field of infectious diseases including topics in Medical Microbiology, Tropical Infectious Diseases and Public and Environmental Health Microbiology.This course includes an individual research project, or a practicum in the State Pathology Laboratory Service.
Good knowledge of biology.
Major studies include development of knowledge in Medical Microbiology, Tropical Infectious Diseases and Public and Environmental Health Microbiology.
International students must have a bachelor's degree, or equivalent, in a relevant discipline (where required), completed to a sufficiently high standard.
Graduates become eligible for membership with the following professional bodies: Australian College of Health Service Executives, Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine, Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators.
This course is aimed at science-based and medical professionals intending to work in research and hospital diagnostic laboratories, medical clinics, government health departments and international agencies. This course leads to become a Biochemist.
