This course should be undertaken by those who are Child care professionals who would be considering their future as senior staff or directors of child services, Child care professionals who wish to enhance their knowledge, skills and understandings and obtain a higher qualification directly relevant to their work, and School leavers who wish pursue a career in the field of early childhood, those who wish to specialize in teaching in the early years at primary schools.
General knowledge of Education and its relation/application in conscience with early Childhood.
Major studies focus on development of higher levels of knowledge and skills to facilitate the provision of educationally sound programs for children from birth to eight years of age. In addition, the studies will provide leaders in early childhood with competencies in teaching, leadership, management and administration.
No subject prerequisites apply, however applicants are expected to meet normal university entry requirements.
Articulation to or from the course the students who have undertaken an appropriate course at another Australian or overseas institution of further education or TAFE college may apply to receive credit for such study. Applications for credit can be made upon application to the Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) course,Honours, Postgraduate Coursework.The students upon completion of the course are eligible to Teacher registration (Tasmanian Teachers Registration Board).
Graduates of the Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) will be qualified to teach in public and private sector schools, and work in childcare centres and after-school care in all states of Australia from birth through to age 8, and internationally. Graduates are also highly sought in other employment sectors which include communication-based jobs in industry training, and public relations.
