This course extends between one and two semesters of supervised research preparation and examination as prescribed by the Faculty on the recommendation of the relevant head of school. In accordance with University policy, the Faculty may require a student to complete an approved preliminary course of study tailored to the student's requirements to ensure adequate research preparation to satisfy the eligibility requirements for the Master of Engineering Science or PhD.

International students must have a bachelor's degree, or equivalent, in a relevant discipline (where required), completed to a sufficiently high standard.
