The course consists of a total of 32 units over 4 years comprising the integration of the following modules: DMD Core Modules, which include fundamental dental and medical sciences together with DMD clinical practice modules, which include clinical dental sciences structured in 5 streams ranging from patient care to preventative and conservative dentistry to restorative dentistry to child and adolescent dental health. There is early clinical contact from first year. In the third year students will actively engage in a research project. While the final year is occupied by quasi-independent but supervised practice which takes place inside and outside of the School with compulsory rural and private practice rotations. The course is 48 weeks in length per year. Please note that no credit for previous undergraduate studies will be given towards the DMD.
Good knowledge of biology.
Major studies focus on theoretical and clinical training and the development of research skills in a specialist discipline in dentistry and the development of advanced clinical skills, research and understanding in a dental specialty is involved as major part of study.
International students must have a bachelor's degree, or equivalent, in a relevant discipline (where required), completed to a sufficiently high standard.
After pursuing this degree from University Of Western Australia, The Doctor of Dental Medicine is accredited by the Australian Dental Council.
After completion of this course from University Of Western Australia, Graduates will be able to register with the Dental Board of Australia as a dentist and enter the profession immediately and this course leads to become Dentist.
