This flexible program allows student to select specialist electives in final year on topics like cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, physiology and anatomy, pathology and microbiology. Our program emphasises vocational skills, and we use the latest technology in modern, well-equipped laboratories. Student will have access to excellent online and support facilities.
Chemistry and 1 of Mathematics or Physics.
Detailed study related to cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, physiology and anatomy, pathology and microbiology is studies as major concepts in this course.
Student must have successfully completed an Australian Year 12 or an equivalent senior secondary school qualification with a minimum average of 65%. For information on international qualifications and corresponding entry requirements that are equivalent to an Australian Year 12, see the Entry requirements by country web page. Equivalent qualifications may also include completion of the RMIT Foundation Studies program or a recognised post secondary diploma in the relevant discipline with the required grades.
Depending on courses chosen in final year and meeting specific criteria, Student will be eligible for membership to the following societies: Ausbiotech, Australasian Society for Human Biology (ASHB), Australian and New Zealand Society for Cell and Developmental Biology (ANZSCDB), Australian Association of Clinical Biochemists (AACB), Australian Physiological Society (AuPS), Australian Society for Medical Research (ASMR), Australian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB), Genetics Society of Australia (GSA), Human Genetics Society of Australasia (HGSA), Mutagenesis and Experimental Pathology Society of Australia (MEPSA).
Graduates can work in:research in universities, hospitals and biomedical research institutes, medical and pharmaceutical research, public and private diagnostic centres, therapeutic research laboratories, applied health areas like health promotion and administration.Students are also eligible for postgraduate entry into medicine, veterinary science, physiotherapy, dentistry and other health sciences. Student can also go on to postgraduate studies in biomedical science in universities and research institutes.
3 years full-time or 6 years part-time, International student visa holders can only study full-time.
