If student is interested to become a pharmacist, this 4-year program is first step. It prepares student for the 1-year internship which is necessary to gain Australia-wide registration. Once student completes this program and the intern year, Student will be eligible to practise in any area of pharmacy in Australia, including community or hospital pharmacy.Student will also gain a strong scientific foundation from which you can do further studies in science or business.
Chemistry and Higher Mathematics.
Student must have successfully completed an Australian Year 12 or an equivalent senior secondary school qualification with a minimum average of 65%.For information on international qualifications and corresponding entry requirements that are equivalent to an Australian Year 12, see the Entry requirements by country web page.Equivalent qualifications may also include completion of the RMIT Foundation Studies program or a recognised post secondary diploma in the relevant discipline with the required grades.
Once student is done with internship and final exam, Then student will be eligible for Pharmacy Board of Australia registration and membership of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia.Theres reciprocal registration with the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand, allowing registration after a 4-week period of working under supervision.
On completion of the program and intern year, Student can work in:community pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, pharmaceutical industry - science, quality control, sales, marketing, management, bio-pharmaceutical industry, clinical trials administration, drug information agencies, drug regulation for government or companies, consulting to industry, pharmacy professional organisations, pharmacy academia, medical research, medical writing.
4 years full-time, International student visa holders can only study full-time.
