The Associate Degree in Computing is a 2-year award which provides a solid foundation to the disciplines of Computing and Computer Science,with the appropriate unit choices, the Bachelor of Computing degree may be completed after one additional full-time year.

The major studies included in this faculty are development of knowledge and skills in the area of Information Technology (IT).
The program offers an alternative method of entry for applicants who do not meet the standard admission requirements. It prepares students for entry to degrees in science and engineering offered at the University of Tasmania. Specific units from the foundation component of the Associate Degree (Stage 1) may taken by students seeking admission to degree programs with specific admission pre-requisites.
This course is accredited by Australian Computer Society (ACS).
Students are prepared for careers and research in the area of Information Technology (IT). Computing graduates gain employment in well-paid, interesting positions in almost any area - there is a need for IT professionals within government, business, industry, education and research. The range of careers is wide, including website management, system administration, client support and training, program design, development and testing, mobile computing and telecommunications, graphics, internet and web engineering, artificial intelligence, and more.
