Course Description
The Bachelor of Agricultural Science degree provides a sound basis in the physical and biological sciences. If students gain sufficient merit they will be invited to undertake an Honours program during the final year of the course.

Major Studies
The Bachelor of Agricultural Science equips graduates with scientific knowledge and skills in the principles of agricultural production and sustainable resource management through the study of: Horticultural science and Agronomy, Animal physiology and nutrition, Microbiology and plant pathology, Soil science and entomology, Crop protection and plant nutrition, Economics and farm management. The applicants can excel for a professional career in agriculture, with wide-ranging opportunities nationally and overseas.
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum University entrance requirements including a TCE Satisfactory Achievement (SA) result or higher in CHM315109 Chemistry (or a pass in the summer school bridging unit KRA001), and MTA315109 Mathematics Applied or MTM315109 Mathematics Methods (or a pass in the summer school bridging unit KMA003); or an ATAR score of 65 or more (students lacking the Chemistry prerequisite will still need to enrol in the bridging unit).
Professional Accreditation
Articulation to or from the course the candidates with other tertiary studies may be granted status for work completed and deemed appropriate to this degree. They are advised to apply for such credit in the first instance to the Faculty Office.Students completing their third year with sufficient merit will be invited to enter Honours in their fourth year of study. Honours graduates may apply for entry into Masters or PhD courses.Graduates from the course are eligible for membership of the Australian Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology (AIAST).

The degree provides an excellent basis for a professional career in agriculture, with wide-ranging opportunities nationally and overseas. Employment prospects for graduates are diverse, including positions in Agribusiness, Marine and Antarctic research, Production agriculture or horticulture, Government Agencies, Resource management, Business management, Agricultural research, Education, Forestry, Aquaculture Food processing, Food technology,Waste management .Graduates from the course are eligible for membership of the Australian Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology (AIAST).
