The BBehavSc is a new specialist three-year degree program with a broad vocational orientation, designed to equip graduates with knowledge and skills relevant to a range of careers. The BBehavSc provides preparation for further study and a career in psychology as well as postgraduate study in other areas.
General knowledge about Behavioural Science.
Major studies focus provides students a broad vocational orientation, designed to equip graduates with knowledge and skills relevant to a range ofstudies,with an opportunity to complete a psychology major in conjunction with a major or minor in a related discipline, eg, neuroscience, management, sociology, criminology and human movement. Students can also choose to complete their second major in behavioural science or behavioural neuroscience.Students in the BBehavSc can choose to complete a psychology major plus a major in a related discipline, or a psychology major plus a major in either Behavioural Science or Behavioural Neuroscience. Alternative pathways to complete a psychology major or an accredited undergraduate sequence in psychology include other Bachelor (BPsych, BA or BSc) or Graduate (GradDipSc) programs.
Minimum University entrance requirements apply. Satisfactory achievement in TCE Mathematics, Psychology or Science subjects is desirable and may be required for first year study in some Science and Health Science units. There is no quota on places for entry into the BBehavSc. On completion of Years 1 and 2 of the BBehavSc, students may apply to transfer to the BPsych. To be eligible for entry to the BPsych, students must attain an average of 75% on the four introductory psychology (KHA) units and the four intermediate psychology units.
This program is accredited as a 3-year sequence of study in psychology by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC). Graduates who subsequently complete an APAC accredited fourth year Psychology qualification will be eligible for provisional registration under the Psychologists Registration Act of Tasmania, with eligibility for full registration following two years of appropriate supervised experience or postgraduate training. Graduates will be eligible for membership of the Australian Psychological Society on completion of an accredited two-year postgraduate program in psychology.
The graduates of this course can gain career in fields such as health psychologist,organizational psychologist, forensic psychologist,sport psychologist,research psychologist.
