This degree provides graduates with the opportunity to combine Engineering and MBA. The program is specifically structured program which merges the core requirements of two different degrees. It enables students to graduate with the equivalent of two degrees in an accelerated time period. Combined degrees offer students the advantage of greater depth and diversity of subject choices, and broader career opportunities.
General knowledge about Engineering and management skills.
The major studies included in this faculty are based on the basic principle of preparing the students to become a responsible element of the society taking into the consideration the career path covers a broad range of disciplines and skills in a world where there is an ever increasing demand for people in this profession.
Candidates for the Bachelor of Engineering (articulating to the Master of Business Administration) would be required to satisfy the following: Have successfully completed the first two years of the Bachelor of Engineering at the University of Tasmania and have achieved a 65% average mark in those engineering units OR (FROM OVERSEAS OR OTHER INSTITUTIONS, INTO 3rd YEAR ENGINEERING). Have successfully completed two years of study with an average mark assessed as equivalent to 70%. Candidates entering directly from Year 12 would be required to have a TCE score of 90 or above, and to achieve the same 65% average mark over the second year units of Engineering to stay in the program.
The credit will be given for the first two years of the Bachelor of Engineering degree subject to an average score of 65% in the second year units. A candidate who has completed the subjects normally accounted to be the Third Examination of the Bachelor of Engineering with sufficient merit may be invited by the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Technology on the recommendation of the School of Engineering as a candidate for the degree of Bachelor of Engineering with Honours and may then articulate to the BE(Hons)-MBA program (See code S4S).The professional recognition as for N3A Bachelor of Engineering and students become eligible for membership of The Institution of Engineers Australia (IEAust).
Engineers play a major role in improving living standards and the quality of life in our community. They have a major role to play in the protection of the environment. Students are prepared for careers covering a broad range of disciplines and skills in a world where there is an ever increasing demand for people in this profession, Engineers are well paid and get interesting positions in government, private companies, industry and consulting firms. After starting in technical positions, Engineers often move into management roles within companies and organizations.
