Course Description
The Bachelor of Environmental Design prepares all graduates for an increasingly design research driven practice with a focus on environmentally sustainable design within each specialization.

Major Studies
Major studies focus on development of knowledge related to the design of buildings, urban systems, public places, transport nodes, and recreation and conservation areas specifically for the tropical/sub-tropical climates of the Asia-Pacific region design that embodies sustainability principles. The program combines academic studies, fieldwork and practical experience with an emphasis on studio learning and sustainable outcomes.
Eligibility Criteria
The Faculty considers for admission, Students who have a broad academic background and a demonstrated interest in commitment to and aptitude for design. Apart from the University's general admission requirements, there are no additional prerequisites for the BEnvDes degree. A limited number of quota places is available to applicants who do not meet the normal University entry requirements.
Professional Accreditation
Articulation to or from the course can be awarded The Associate Degree in Furniture Design articulates into the third year of the Bachelor of Environmental Design (Furniture Design).There may be some credit granted for completion of the Associate Diploma of Applied Science (Building and Architecture), which is offered by TAFE Tasmania, however this will be granted on a case-by-case basis. The Architecture specialisation is designed as a pre-professional course and articulates directly into the Master of Architecture.Students from all specialisations are eligible for Associate Membership of the Design Institute of Australia.
Career Prospectus
The focus of the course is on commercial, retail, residential and public interiors. The course aims to develop students' creative abilities to a level sufficient to gain access to the Bachelor of Environmental Design with Honours. The Architecture specialisation is designed as a pre-professional course and articulates directly into the Master of Architecture. The career outcomes are Environmental designer, Furniture Designer, Interior Designer,Landscape Architect.
