The Master of Applied Science is a four semester full-time or eight semester part-time course offered on the Hobart and Launceston campuses by most Schools of the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Technology. While the course for full-time students is the equivalent of four semesters, students with an acceptable background may be able to complete the course in three semesters over one calendar year.
General knowledge about Applied Science.
The major studies aims to provide students with opportunities to acquire knowledge, attitudes and skills in a range of basic physical, computational, mathematical, earth and life sciences to provide graduates with advanced knowledge in one science discipline to meet the needs of industry, business and government agencies.
A bachelor degree in Science or Applied Science at the University of Tasmania or an equivalent award from another university or tertiary institution.
There is no articulation with other courses.Depending on the area of specialisation, graduates may be eligible for membership of a number of professional organisations like Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST).
The graduates of the Master of Applied Science will find employment opportunities in their areas of specialization, hence meeting the needs of the industry, business and government agencies.
