The program will set the Australian benchmark for professional development in maritime operations. The key objective is to provide graduates with a widely recognised qualification that meets the higher level training an educational needs of the sectors in, and associated with, theAustralian and international marine transport industry.
General knowledge about Applied Science.
The major studies aims to broaden and deepen students' understanding of maritime operations and related fields and further develop a range of technical, cognitive and behavioural skills that can be applied in a variety of maritime operations contexts. Studies focus on identification and solving problems related to maritime operations and related fields using broad‐based knowledge of the fundamental principles within their chosen specialisation, their critical thinking skills, and state‐of‐the‐art tools and technologies, critically analysing and evaluating developments and issues that emerge in the field of maritime operations,be able to function autonomously as well as an effective member of a management team and have the ability to adapt to the changing technical and operational needs of the global shipping industry and pursue lifelong learning and continuing professional development as they progress in their chosen career.
Students are expected to enrol initially in the Graduate Certificate. Students will be able to enter the Graduate Diploma following completion of the Graduate Certificate or a similar and equivalent award from another tertiary institution.
Articulation to or from the course can be given to the students completing the MAppSc (Specialisation) will be eligible to apply for a HDR program, either MSc or PhD, contingent on performance. The course is accredited by the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST).
The aims of the programs are to provide a pathway for professional development for those already involved in the maritime operations,an opportunity for professional seafarers who are contemplating a shore-based career to broaden their knowledge and skill base,an entry point for professional and technical personnel interested in entering the maritime industries.
