Anthropology is the study of the origin and cultural development of mankind.Sociology examines how human actions in modern societies are shaped by social groups and by wider social, economic and political pressures.Both fields share a common interest in the comparative study of human societies.
At least English 2A/2B, Literature 2A/2B or English as an Additional Language/Dialect 2A/2B.
In this course the major studies includes exploration of contemporary issues including family,sport,gender relations,media,education,work and economic change,community development,health,crime ,human rights. You will focus on local and global contexts, particularly in Australia, Asia and the Pacific.Students can also explore how cultural practices, institutions, social groups and everyday life are being transformed by globalised communication, economic, political and environmental change. Students will also learn practical and conceptual skills to respond to global and local change.
The student must have basic knowledge of sociology and arts
This course can help to become a Historian,Anthropologist,Sociologist,Political Scientist,community development,urban and social planner,social worker ,museums,international development (AusAID),journalism,mining and research.Anthropology and Sociology can be combined with one of the following majors to maximise employability in this field: Asian Studies, International Relations, Sustainable Development.
