Software engineers design, develop and test programs, such as phone apps and large-scale business software, which can range from simulation software to mining applications. They liaise with clients to understand their software needs and translate these needs into applications written in modern programming languages.
Good knowledge of Mathematics (including Calculus), Physics and Chemistry.
Major study in this course includes gaining of knowledge related to Computer Science, Information Technology, Cyber Security and Software Engineering, C++ and Java in the Computing Pre-Major. Linux and object oriented programming skills are taught throughout the course.
Students are eligible to this course if they have score 9 in GCE/STPM/HKALE (A-levels - best of three), score 28 in IB, score 70 in Ontario Gr 12 (best of 6), score 80 in TER (including TEE/SACE/HSC/VCE), score 59 in WAUFP (CPS), 77% in India/Pakistan, score 10 in Sri Lanka.
This course is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.
Students of this course will have career as a Software design engineer, Software consultant, Software engineer, System analyst, Software test and quality assurance officer.
