Monash's Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Finance) will give a thorough understanding of the economy and business, beyond the daily management of an organization. Students will also learn how a business operates, as well as explore how all the economic, political, social, cultural and technological decisions that go along with businesses can positively and negatively impact on our society, or even the world. Students need to develop practical skills you need to be successful in your chosen career, this will give you the opportunity to grow your critical-thinking skills and increase your capacity to analyze complex problems and develop solutions for them. This means you'll head out into the workforce with the ability to improve the way the world operates. Our degree offers six core units that introduce students to the key principles of commerce, and will complete an eight unit major in accounting and an eight unit major in finance, as well as four open electives.
Good knowledge of accounting skills.
Major studies include Accounting principles, Auditing ,taxation ,relevant areas of business law,financial management. Students can also examine the development and communication of information relating to the financial performance of organisations, learn to prepare reports and give advice on an organisation's record-keeping and compliance requirements.
A study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or 25 in English other than EAL and a study score of at least 25 in one of Maths: Mathematical Methods (CAS) or Maths: Specialist Mathematics. A score of at least 4 in English SL or 3 in English HL or 5 in English B SL or 4 in English B HL, and A score of at least 4 in mathematics SL or 3 in mathematics HL or 4 in further mathematics SL.
A Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Finance) allows graduates to satisfy the educational requirements of various professional registrations and memberships.
Commerce graduates have a huge range of career opportunities, and an accounting and finance specialization further improves these options. Our graduates work all over the world. They work in banking, politics, management, accounting and insurance. They work for the government and major finance corporations. The range of career options depends on the subjects chosen but, given we offer open electives and a major in accounting and finance, graduates will be able to explore many career paths.
