This innovative double degree was developed in response to the Federal Government’s ‘Innovation Statement’ and aims to integrate full science degree studies with a complete teaching qualification, with a particular emphasis on mathematics, statistics (taught as part of mathematics in secondary schools), physics and chemistry. Graduates of this double degree will develop a deep understanding of their teaching specialties and will be equipped to adapt their teaching to engage with the needs of their teaching settings, including their own students and the nature of the areas of knowledge and behaviour that constitute the discipline. In this program, emphasis is placed on the teacher’s ability to adapt teaching to continuously changing circumstances while fostering deep understanding of relevant areas of scientific disciplines.
Good knowledge of Mathematics and Physics.
Major study in this course includes gaining of knowledge related to science disciplines, Classroom Management and Student Responsibility, Science and Technology in Contemporary Society, Teaching Practice.
Students are eligible to this course if they have LTM Foundation Studies – 70, International Baccalaureate – 30, GCE A Levels – 8, HKDSE - 3 x Level 4, Sri Lankan A Levels – BBC, STPM – 9, MICSS (UEC) – 4, Canada Secondary School (or CPU) – 73, Norway Upper Secondary Certificate - 3.7, Sweden Slutbetyg - G/VG, All Indian Sen SC (Best 5 Subjects) – 73, Vietnam (Year 12) - 8.4.
This course is accredited by Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).
Students of this course will work as teachers and educators and students may also find work in children's services, education leadership-related areas, government, private sector, media and service industries.
