The Master of Contemporary Arts is a professionally oriented course that facilitates technical and conceptual development through practice in contemporary arts, the specialisations include Visual Arts, Theatre, Music, Digital Design, Gallery Practices or a cross-disciplinary approach.
General knowledge about Contemporary Arts.
Developing of skills to undertake systematic research and solving of complex applied computing problems, development of skills in areas of computing including networks and security, internet and intranets, interactive multimedia, data mining, adaptive business intelligence and health informatics is involved. Key learning objectives include designing, planning and organizing technology-based projects that are produced on time, to high standards and within budget. Development of analytical, research, strategic planning and project management skills is also involved.
To qualify for admission, applicants must demonstrate, during an interview process, the potential to undertake the Graduate Certificate of Contemporary Arts. Normally applicants should have a degree in Visual Arts, Design, Theatre or Music or in an accepted cognate discipline. A person who possesses such other qualifications and professional experience deemed by the Faculty to provide an adequate preparation for study equivalent to that provided for by an undergraduate degree, may be admitted to the course.Non English speaking international students who make application to the MCA(Master of Contemporary Arts) are required to have achieved an IELTS score or a TOEFL score with a test of written English,the test score must be no more than 24 months old.
Articulation to or from the course may be awarded to the students who have graduated with a BCA(Hons) award at this University may, at the discretion of the Faculty, be awarded up to 50% (equal to one-third of the total award) towards the MCA(Master of Contemporary Arts). Credit may be given, at the discretion of the Faculty, for achievements by candidates in other awards and professional practice areas at equivalent level.Students who have passed appropriate units towards the Graduate Certificate in Contemporary Arts or Graduate Diploma in Contemporary Arts may apply to undertake the Master of Contemporary Arts with full credit.
Career outcomes for graduates of the Graduate Certificate in Contemporary Arts may include theatre practitioner, musician, visual artist, graphic designer, teacher, curator and arts administrator.
