Speech pathology is a growing profession, and with a shortage of qualified speech pathologists in Australia, new graduates have excellent career prospects and opportunities to specialize and diversify. This course aims to qualify students as a speech pathologist for work in Australia. Theoretical studies cover the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and provision of management and advocacy services to people with communication or swallowing disorders, who may have difficulties in speech, language, voice, fluency, and reading and spelling. Students will also gain clinical experience by working on speech pathology cases through various formats.
Good knowledge of Biology and Chemistry.
Gaining of knowledge related to Academic Integrity, Human Biosciences, Introduction to Professional Practice, Individual Determinants of Health, Research and Evidence in Practice, Social Determinants of Health, Analysing and Combining Words, Normal Communication and Swallowing Processes, Integrating Evidence into Practice, Anatomy & Neurophysiology for Speech and Swallowing, Analysis of Communication, Speech and Hearing Sciences, Mental Health and Pharmacology are the concepts included as major parts in this course.
Students are eligible to this course if they have LTM Foundation Studies – 85, International Baccalaureate – 31, GCE A Levels – 14, HKDSE - 2 x Level 5, Sri Lankan A Levels – AAA, STPM – 11, MICSS (UEC) – 2, Canada Secondary School (or CPU) – 85, Norway Upper Secondary Certificate – 5, Sweden Slutbetyg - G/VG, All Indian Sen SC (Best 5 Subjects) – 85, Vietnam (Year 12) -8.9, Indonesia (SMA) – 8.5, GAC Cert. IV - GPA 3.3.
This course is accredited by Speech Pathology Australia.
Students of this course will work in hospitals, community health centers, private practice, schools, rehabilitation centers and aged care centers.
