Finance is the study of the management of money, banking, investment and credit. It involves financial organisations, markets and instruments, their effect on the flow of funds within the economy and the control of risk. Economics deals with the production, distribution, consumption and management of goods and services. It explores how the decisions made by producers, consumers, businesses and governments affect our society. This double degree is designed to give students practical financial skills and the latest economic understanding which can be applied to real industry, social and governmental situations.

Gaining of knowledge related to Techniques and Elements of Finance, Macroeconomic Principles, Microeconomic Principles, Accounting IA or Accounting Information for Decision-Making, Applied Financial Analysis and Management, Microeconomic Analysis, Macroeconomic Analysis, Econometric Principles, Financial Modelling Mathematics of Finance, Introductory Econometrics, Issues in Applied Finance, Macroeconomic Policy, Industrial Organisation, Financial Econometrics, The Economics of Financial Institutions, Econometric Methods, The Economics of Financial Institutions, Economic Development, Money and Finance, Evolution of Economic Ideas, Environmental Economics, International Finance are the concepts included as major parts in this course.
Students are eligible to this course if they have Good knowledge of mathematics (HSC Mathematics band 4, or international equivalent).
This course is accredited by Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).
Students of this course will have career in finance and banking both in Australia and internationally. Students have excellent career opportunities in financial institutions, finance departments of large private companies and Government Departments and Agencies, working in such roles as security and currency trading, portfolio management, investment advising, policy development and analysis, financial risk analysis.
