Information Technology is increasingly important in a legal context. The use of information technologies in business and government raises legal issues around intellectual property, knowledge management and software use. In this program students will develop IT skills to build and use information systems, manage data, or build client-server web applications. Students will also explore the relevant legal frameworks for these processes. In this degree students will explore one of three IT areas: Software Technology, focusing on: programming, software engineering, discrete mathematics. Business Information Systems, focusing on: information systems concepts and issues, information systems for management, information systems audit and assurance. Web design and development, focusing on: state-of-the-art web design practice, cloud-computing, web as a big-data platform. Macquarie Law will give students knowledge of legal principles and the critical and analytic skills to really understand them. Students will study established areas such as constitutional law, international law, contract law and family law.
