Specialist early childhood teachers work with children, families and communities to provide quality educational experiences for young children. Early childhood teachers are also sought for consultancy and professional development work in children’s services. In this degree students will study how children learn, play and develop, along with the skills to manage and lead early childhood settings. Students who hold a Diploma of Children's Services receive credit for previous studies which would enable completion in 2-2.5 years.

Gaining of knowledge related to Play and Inquiry in Early Childhood, Foundation Studies in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood in Australia: The Social Context, Health in Early Childhood, The Arts in Early Childhood Contexts, Early Childhood Reflective Practice, Early Childhood Studies, Infancy and Early Development, Child Development 4-12 Years, Young Children's Language, Literature and Literacy, Young Children's Mathematics, Science and Technology, Management and Leadership 1 - The Socio-Political Context of Teaching, Children, Families and Communities in a Diverse Society, Developmental Difference and Disability are the concepts included as major parts in this course.
No specific entry requirements are necessary, however English is recommended. Students will be given credit for previous study if they have a Diploma of Children’s Services or a Diploma of Community Services (Centre based care).
This course is accredited by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA).
Students of this course will have career as Long day care centre teacher, Preschool teacher, and Educational officer in government and community programs, Teacher/director in prior to school settings.
