In this time of rapid transition in the field of literary and cultural studies, the Master of Arts(Creative Writing) is intent upon sustaining offers in traditional historical periods, elaborating those in diverse world literatures, and engaging fully with the spectrum of current theoretical concerns.
General knowldege about Arts and Creative writing.
The main purpose and importance, intention of this course is that, upon completion of this course, students will be able to synthesize and contextualize an existing corpus of research-based scholarly literature and have developed extensive skills to enable them to design, conduct and critically appraise research using methods appropriate to the discipline.
The students must have completed any one of the following requirements, a successful completion of the requirements for the Graduate Certificate in Arts (Specialization) or Graduate Diploma in Arts (Specialization) with a Credit average; or a Bachelor of Arts degree or its equivalent from the University of Tasmania with Credit average results; or a university degree from another university or tertiary institution, deemed to be appropriate by the Faculty of Arts; or candidates not holding a bachelor's degree but whose employment experience indicates a level of knowledge and skill deemed by the Faculty to be sufficient to complete the course satisfactorily may be deemed eligible for admission.
Students who terminate their studies after completing 50 per cent of coursework units (including any core units) are eligible to achieve the Graduate Certificate in Arts (Specialization). Students who complete the Master of Arts (Specialization) at a sufficiently high level and who show an affinity for research will be encouraged to consider progression to a research higher degree.This course is accredited by the Public Relations Institute of Australia.
The study of this course enables the students to find career options in areas such as advertising, computing, creative writing, freelance writing and editing, journalism, media research, publishing or scriptwriting, and editing in community organisations or government departments.
