Macquarie University

Macquarie University is the only Australian university to offer undergraduate students a full major in palaeobiology . The aim is to give students a ‘deep time’ perspective on the evolution of life. By studying the fossil record students will explore: the early evolution and phylogeny of animals and plants, the timing and correlation of important events in deep time, fundamental questions about fluctuating ecological and environmental parameters through time. Discover the new discipline of ‘evo-devo’, which melds palaeobiology with evolutionary biology, genetics and developmental biology. It seeks to determine the ancestral relationship between organisms, and understand how developmental processes evolved.
Good knowledge of Biology and Chemistry.
Gaining of knowledge related to Techniques and Elements of Finance, Principles of Management, Microeconomic Principles, Marketing Fundamentals, Accounting Information for Decision-Making, Evolution and Biodiversity, The Thread of Life, The Planet Earth, Marine Geoscience, History of Life, Animal Structure and Function, Marine Depositional Environments, Introduction to Field Geology, Evolutionary Palaeontology, Reef Evolution and Dynamics, Special Interest Topics in Biology, Invertebrates: Evolution, Behavior and Diversity, Freshwater Ecology, Ecology and Evolution, Field Geology and Mapping, Liquid Fuels and Energy Security, Environmental Geology are the concepts included as major parts in this course.
