University of Tasmania

This is a specialized master degree course in Economic Geology specifically designed for industry and government geologists. The UTAS program is part of the G4 National Masters course. Units will be taught by the University of Tasmania, the University of Western Australia and James Cook University.
General knowledge about Economic Geology.
The major studies embodied in this course are based on the objectives to increase and update knowledge and skills required during the exploration and exploitation of mineral deposits, here the spectrum of topics relevant to the exploration mining industries are given a boost.
Bachelor of Science with Honours is the normal entry qualification. However, for students without this qualification the entry requirements will depend on whether the applicants come from a professional industry background, such applicants require Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Science (Applied) and a minimum of 2 years' experience working as a professional geologist in industry or a government institution and completion of a significant geological company report or paper, based on some aspect Minerals Geoscience Masters (MGM) , JUC and UWA wishing to enrol in UTAS units, must complete a cross-institutional application form.
This course is accredited by the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM).
This course is for geoscientists who want to increase their knowledge and skills, while gaining a thorough up-date of advances across the spectrum of economic geology.
